Cringleford Scouts set ambitious target for village waste recycling in 2009
For many years the young people of Cringleford Scout Group have been collecting waste paper for recycling. In 2008 their regular collections of newspapers, magazines, junk mail, packaging and cardboard have collected over 50 tonnes.
The payments they receive from Norfolk County Council for helping to meet the county's recycling targets are a major source of funds for the group, helping towards the cost of providing a well equipped Headquarters and a stimulating programme of activities.
The monthly collections also encourage the young people to think about the environment, citizenship and service within their local community.
Since the introduction of green wheelie bins, a little less waste paper has been left out for the Scouts to collect on THE FIRST SATURDAY OF EACH MONTH (except August or January). Could you please help by saving up your waste, putting it in carrier bags, boxes or bundles and leaving it for them to collect BY YOUR GATE BEFORE 9.30am?
The Scouts have set themselves the ambitious challenge of increasing collections by 15% in 2009 to over 60 tonnes. They would really appreciate
your help to reach this target.
If you need to contact them for further information, please call Mike on 07940 254717.
Thank you.
