Cringleford and Eaton Annual Horticultural Show - August 16th 2008
The long display tables filled the Church Hall and were covered with flowers, fruit, vegetables and home produce brought by club members. In the morning the judges made their selection and after lunch the show was opened to the public.
The best Floral Arrangement was won by Pamela Ward with her bold and attractive display entitled Global Warming.
V Deeker won first prize for her beautifully decorated Cake with Horticultural Design - a hat with a floral spray.
Mary Muff's marmalade was pronounced excellent and won Best in Home Produce.
In the Children's Poster Section, Oliver Philcox won the 12 year old prize and Eleanor Philcox the 7 year old with their arresting Show posters.
In the Hobbies section Ann Barnes'amazing knitted ark with paired animals and Leona Hesketh's fine pottery were much admired.
The Supreme Tray of Vegetables was won by Barbara Knowles' display of well grown vegetables.
Neil Rout's lovely dahlias won the Best Dahlia Award, and the Best Rose Award went to Ann Barnes for her beautiful specimen rose.
Arthur Higginbottom easily won the Best Vegetables for his mini tomatoes and Best Fruit with his raspberries, and he swept the board to win Best Horticultural Award.
At the end of the day the remaining exhibits were auctioned for Club funds, V Deeker's cake reaching the magnificent sum of £13.50. Thank you to all who helped the Club both by exhibiting and auctioning of produce.
