Round House Park
Round House Park Officially Launched
On June 7th 2007 Joseph Mooney, chairman of South Norfolk District Council officially launched the the Round House Park development. The event was attended by a wide range of guests including many local residents and representatives from the parish council, local clubs and societies.
The total development will cover 40 Hectares (98 acres) of which over 12 Hectares (28 acres) will be open space made up of parkland, woodland and meadows. There will be footpaths and cycling paths as well as a recreational area around the new drainage area that will be landscaped into a wildlife pond.
The frst phase homes are being built by Alison Homes and Bloor Homes as shown here.
The Next Stage
Meanwhile the rest of the development is being reviewed by the Parish council to ensure that the new recreation centre is situated in the best location. The Parish council have consistently taken a strong line that the new community centre should be co-located with the parkland and there must be a sports playing field associated with the community centre. The Parish Council has continually refused the infrastructure plan and will do so until the plan facilitates the appropriate location of the community centre and a sports field.

First House Erected
These photos were all taken in October 17th 2007 and yes it was a beautiful sunny day with blue skies. The first stage of the new development is moving swiftly and it is good to see evidence of landscaping both around the lake and around the periphery. The agreement to phase 2 can not be far off and then we will see the whole picture including the siting of the community centre, school and sports/recreational facilities. We will continue to bring you regularly updated photos as work progresses

The new common area - Parklands
One of the earliest developments will be the new recreation area, which will be called "Parklands". This is shown below in its current state mid April-07.
For many years this has been a pasture with horses grazing amongst the rabbits and occasional lazy fox. One of the delights of this new common will be access into the wood behind. For many years the woods were planted with bluebells and daffodils for a superb springtime show. Alas over recent years the daffs seem to have struggled but come the end of April we see the carpet of bluebells and solomon seals that still thrive today (photo taken 26th April 2007).
